Serving is at the heart of who we are as followers of Jesus. At Hawthorne Gospel, we believe God has given every believer unique gifts and passions to build up the body of Christ and bless our community. When we serve, we not only meet real needs, but we also grow in our faith, reflect Christ’s love, and become part of something bigger than ourselves. Whether it’s teaching children, welcoming guests, leading in worship, or helping behind the scenes, every role matters and makes a difference. Serving is more than volunteering—it’s worship in action.

Children’s Ministry

Nursery

Volunteers needed Sunday mornings during the 9:55 and 11:25 Service. Team members can serve weekly, once a month, or just as needed.

Sunday School Substitute Teachers

Substitute Table Teachers are needed for Sunday School classes during the 9:55 service. Come learn how to engage children in the Gospel alongside experienced teachers. Be willing to lead a table when a teacher is away.

AWANA

Table teachers needed for our Kindergarten – 2nd grade group. Come alongside children as they memorize Scripture and hide God’s Word in their heart. We meet weekly on Sunday nights from 5 – 6:30 pm from September – May (please arrive by 4:45 pm).

Childcare for Special Events

Looking for a way to support families in our congregation? Come play games, lead a lesson, or work on a puzzle during Moms & Mentors (once a month on Saturday mornings) or during Marriage & Family (every other Tuesday night).

Individuals with Special Needs

Buddies

This one-on-one support allows children who need extra support (for a variety of reasons) to continue learning best alongside their peers. Buddies are needed during the 9:55 service and during AWANA on Sunday nights.

Respite Event Buddy

Help provide a fun, safe atmosphere through games and seasonal activities for individuals with disabilities and their siblings. This every other month event is a respite event for families. Our next event will be on Friday, October 10th. 

Prayer

Sunday Morning Prayer 

Prayer Warriors needed on Sundays for the 8:25 service (please arrive by 8:00 am). If you have a passion to pray and intercede on behalf of others, perhaps this ministry is for you

Monday Morning Prayer

Every week at 6 am, men and women come to the overflow area in the Sanctuary to pray for the various needs of our church family. 

Wednesday Night Prayer

At 7 pm every week adults of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend our prayer time in The Chapel as we lift up the needs of our congregation.

Friday Night Zoom Prayer

At 7 pm on the first Friday of every month, a group of prayer warriors meet via zoom to pray for our pastoral leadership team and lift our nation in prayer.

Currently looking for set up/clean up help for the Gospel Cafe during the Sunday night service at 5 pm.

Gospel Cafe – Snack Prep

Want to turn your passion for baking into a sweet act of service? Consider joining this team and coordinating monthly treats for the Gospel Cafe during the 5 pm service.

Do you have a heart for welcoming others with a friendly smile and helping them feel at home at Hawthorne Gospel Church? Join our Connectors Team! We especially need volunteers for the 8:25 am service.

Singles Ministry

Special Events

Are you between the ages of 28–65 and enjoy being part of our Singles Ministry events? We’d love your help! Join our setup/clean-up team and play a vital role in making these gatherings run smoothly. It’s a simple way to serve and connect with others while supporting this ministry.

Security

Security Team 

Do you have a heart to serve by helping others feel safe and cared for? Our Security Team plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and secure environment for everyone who walks through our doors. Volunteers help monitor our facilities, assist in emergencies, and provide a calm, watchful presence during services and events. If you’re dependable, attentive, and willing to serve behind the scenes, we’d love for you to join us in keeping our church family safe.

Music Ministry

Choir

Sing with us – lift your voice in praise! Come be part of a community that lifts praises to God and leads our church in worship each week. All voices are welcome! We practice on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm and normally participate in all the morning services.

Band

Our Band is a great community to join if you play guitar, drums, piano, bass guitar.

Orchestra

Our Orchestra plays at many of our special events throughout the year. If you want to serve Jesus through the Orchestra get in touch with us!

A/V Team

This team runs the projector, sound, and lights for all of our services. If you are willing to learn, we are happy to teach you.

Meals Ministry

Meal Train

Our Meals Ministry needs help from those willing to contribute home-cooked meals to support new parents or those facing medical challenges in our church family.

Senior Adults

Encore

Do you enjoy making others feel cared for and welcome? Encore, which meets once a month on Tuesdays, is looking for volunteers to help with hospitality— setting up coffee and snacks, offering a warm smile, and lending a helping hand. Join us in blessing our senior adults with Christ’s love through simple acts of service.
