The Bible talks often about justice, especially for those underprivileged with common resources, about good news for the poor, and to be open handed with those whom poverty has it's grip on. This is why we believe outreach is so important.
More on the outreach page is coming very soon! For more information on how to get plugged in, email Tim Stanley.
It’s Shoebox Time 2020!
Start picking up your shoeboxes and then pack them to be ready to drop off here during this year’s National Collection Week, November 16-23, 2020. If you participated last year, great! Maybe this year you can do just one more box than you did last year. Spending more time at home now? Working from home? Homeschooling? Virtual learning? Why not make this an individual or family project time to learn and have fun! Check out these videos of recipients and the eternal influence of these shoeboxes.
The COVID pandemic is not going to stop us from doing our part in packing and collecting as many filled shoeboxes as we can! Operation Christmas Child’s worldwide goal this year is to collect 11 million shoeboxes. Let's do our part to make this happen! Check out this video to help you with ideas of what to pack inside your shoebox.
Be sure to make the box personal and even include a personal note, picture, and address in which the recipient could possibly contact you. Don’t forget to include your suggested $9 per box donation too in the Samaritan’s Purse /Operation Christmas Child envelope on top
Of the inside of your shoebox. Please make checks payable to Samaritan’s Purse. If doing multiple shoeboxes you can put the total donation in just one envelope inside one shoebox.
It is going to look a bit different this year with drive up and drop off, keeping safe and healthy guidelines in place. We are still working on the details of our collection week process and will be updating here with that information, so be sure to check back frequently.
So be sure to pick up your shoeboxes in the Hawthorne Gospel Church sanctuary foyer before and after the in-person Sunday services or in the church office foyer between 9 am & 5 pm Monday through Friday. Have fun and pray for each box as you are packing.
