We are told in the Scriptures “to carry one another’s burdens and in so doing, we fulfill the law of Christ” (Gal.6:2). While this is a normal expectation for followers of Jesus Christ given Christ’s command to love our neighbors as ourselves, there are special circumstances and moments in our lives that require extra special attention. HGC has accepted the reality of life in a fallen world and the Scriptural challenge to carry one another’s burdens by creating Support Ministries.
Below you will find those Ministries and all the details that you need in order to get involved yourself or to help someone you know get connected.
Meets 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month in the Bible house lounge from 7:00 – 8:30 pm
Who are we?
The primary objective of the group is to move people from a place of devastating diagnosis, or struggle with a life-threatening or life-altering illness to extraordinary living as defined by John 10:10 which says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” We expect participants to receive a fresh vision for life a “game changing perspective” on serious illness, and an understanding that your “valley of trouble can be turned into a door of hope” as spoken of in Hosea 2:14-15. Lastly we want you to learn to seize hope and claim abundant life.
Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Dr. Jim Henry
New Life AD
Isn’t it time to stop letting alcohol or drugs control your life? Isn’t it time to make things right with those you love? Isn’t it time to start living again? Isn’t it time to give your life – warts and all – to God? New Life AD is a good place to start. The group meets confidentially every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in Y-118, using the book A Spiritual Kindergarten: A Christian Perspective on the 12 Steps. Don’t let your good intentions and your life slip away. Call ministry leaders Clara Spagnola (201)-337-6332, or Bob Struz (973)427-3377, for more information.
Meeting Time and Location
Every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
The grieving heart is comforted when others offer compassion and a listening ear—and these are the key components you’ll find that make up the grief recovery ministry offered through GriefShare. Looking for a place to turn in your grief? People who understand what you are going through? GriefShare is a nondenominational group open to all who have suffered the loss of a loved one. This ministry helps survivors of a loss to rebuild their lives. It provides informative videos, supportive Christian fellowship, and the comfort of Scripture.
Participants view GriefShare, a 13-session video series that features interviews with bereaved people who share their testimonies of pain and recovery following a loss. Included in these videos are respected Christian speakers such as Elisabeth Elliot, Dr. Larry Crabb, E.V. Hill, Barbara Johnson, and H. Norman Wright, whose comments on their own loss offer hope in what appears to be a hopeless situation. Along with a focus on a particular aspect of mourning, the videos also clearly present the gospel message, emphasizing the need for a personal relationship with Christ. Each of the 13 sessions is self-contained, so you may join us anytime, and you do not have to attend in sequence.
